almost a year later…

I’m getting around to another post. Maybe it’s all that cheating I’ve been doing with Instagram? Anyway, here’s the ICFF 2014 round-up in an effort to keep this dog and pony show going.

Something non-cheesey from Italy was there this year! Fred & Juul had a beautiful table made of wine casks.

FredJuul_Maurits_diningtable_02Apparatus has grown considerably since last time I saw them, and for good reason. The Horsehair sconce is really something.

Newcomer Syrette Lew’s company Moving Mountains had a very sweet little booth. The blue-green bench not the least of the goodies.

Studio Dunn is still just as lovely as ever, and their printed material is worth the price of admission every time. The Cumberland Sconce was my favorite new addition.

The magnetic Brendan Ravenhill was working hard to address the mobs storming his beautiful objects. The love he has for what he does is literally exuding from him, along with a strong Best Coast spirit which never hurts.

The Calico hombre wallpaper is divine.

Egg Collective is perfect as usual. Super in love with the James Pendant.

I know I overdo it on the Windsor stuff, but it it is what it is. O & G sucked me in of course. The Moanna mirror is pretty awesome too.

Asher Israelow shared a booth with the now pretty famous (thank you Wythe Hotel) Workstead and was very eye-catching and covetable, if that’s a word. The star table especially.

Fort Standard really stood out this year as well. The table!

Matter had a very handsome little area set up this year, bigger than ever. Although I have to say it had a little bit of a newest restaurant in town and everyone lined up in front of a smug host kind of feel, but maybe that’s just my North Brooklyn angst clouding my judgement. The lighting was really gorgeous, but unfortunately my phone had died at this point and I didn’t get a pic…

Of course everything at Rich Brilliant Willing was dazzling and inspiring. Lots of great stuff happening there as always.

And last but not least I have to say my favorite thing at the show was probably one of the most traditional and old-school interior design items of all. I am surprised and not-surprised how drawn to them I was. The Walker Zanger Robert A.M. Stern Collection of tiles. Classic and modern, and weirdly wonderful hues, I want the scallop in pale pale gray the most, but I will have to wait.  I have never loved, or even found a slight affinity for Robert Stern’s work but it’s fun to find a random sleeper in the form of a tile.

Until next year??

that this whole tee-pee-for-kiddies thing has been a ubiquitous diy pleasure since long before my little munchkin was even a twinkle in anyone’s eye, but it’s still so fun, so we’re gonna do it.

My original inspiration came years ago from the BDDW Brownstone in Park Slope photographed for Brooklyn Modern.
